Cloudflare Wants the Web Ready for Agents

Cloudflare used Agents Week to argue that the web needs to become readable, discoverable, callable, and payable for software agents, then backed that thesis with pieces like Kitesurf, an agent-first browser running in V8 isolates on Workers, and Precursor, a continuous behavior system for distinguishing human, bot, and hybrid sessions. The important part is not any single product name; it is the admission that agents are becoming a new class of web visitor with intent, cost, identity, and sometimes money attached. Treating them like ordinary scrapers is too crude, but blindly welcoming them is also how one acquires a surprise bill and a headache. The open-web question is now whether publishers, merchants, and agents can negotiate identity, access, and payment without handing the whole future to a few sealed platforms.
